Door number 3

Door 3 is the entryway to a large warehouse in Filipstad – just a stone’s throw away from Tjuvholmen and Aker Brygge and perhaps better known as Skur 13. This harbor warehouse – first built as a paper warehouse by Follum Fabrikker – was rebuilt for the X Games in 2016, when the best skaters in the world competed at this very spot. Since then, Skur 13 has been a permanent skating hall for both sports and social activities. Today, the facade is painted with a zebra pattern, but many will remember when Pushwagner transformed the facade into an enormous work of art.The large entryway conceals several artists who will give the residents of Oslo an experience they’re unlikely to forget. These artists are known for their explosive urge to express themselves. They are individual artists who collectively explore the relationship between text, sound, light, movement and performative expression. Through experimental processes in the public space, they become ambassadors for cultural diversity. They are human synthesizers who explore mankind’s ability to feel, think and sense. The names of both artists will be revealed upon the opening of the door.

AD_VENT – The art of waiting – is an untraditional advent calendar that offers unique artistic experiences in public spaces. The door's number is both the address and the date. Behind the doors are surprises in the form of visual art, music, literature, theatre, performance or dance.

We would like to thank Oslo Kommune Kulturetaten, KORO and Kulturrådet for their positive engagement and financial support that has made it possible for AD_VENT to give the people of Oslo unique art experiences during the “waiting time” – free of charge.
